Mother was my first book,
The one I read since birth.
Page by page,
It taught me love,
The only word
The caged dove sings.
‘Love is like spider’s web, son’
It taught me well,
Taught me again:
‘Whenever you remember,
It will hold you back.’
Father was the second book,
I took it eagerly shortly after.
‘Obligation is the wheel, son’
It taught me directly,
Taught me promptly:
‘If you fail to turn it properly’
It said, ‘it will drop you,
Not time, not place,
You may know exactly!
But tell me, son,
Is this what
Do you want?’
The name of the third book was Wife.
It is all about system and control
Over your knife.
‘If you really don’t wanna be a knight,
Alright, son,
Read the Wife,
Chapter by chapter,
Catch the things
Of water, air and Earth.’
However,
I am young and Astika by thought,
Saved my life through lust.
Can you guess
On which book
I’d put my cost?
