Kavidanda Sahitya Samaj, a literary organization, has announced the winner of the ‘Kavidanda National Fiction Award 2081’ through a press release today. The award has been announced for novelist Tirtha Gurung’s novel Heu ko Geet (Song of Snow), an honor the Society presents annually.
According to the announcement, Gurung’s work was praised for its powerful use of magical realism, its vivid portrayal of the continuous socio-cultural flow of the Gurung community, and its attention to overlooked yet important aspects. The selection committee remarked that the novel captivates readers with its compelling narrative style.
Earlier, the Society had released a longlist of 10 works, followed by a shortlist of 5, from which Gurung’s Song of Snow was ultimately chosen.
The other works on the shortlist included Urmal (novel) by Chhuden Kawimo, Prabasiko Desh Hunnna (story collection) by Pancham Adhikari, Swa (novel) by Saraswati Pratiksha, and Savarni (novel) by Shridhar Khanal.
The date, venue, and time of the award ceremony will be announced later by the Society.
