Winners of Baarakhari Story Competition Announced: Bishnu Paduka Takes Top Prize

Kathmandu, December 1 — Baahrakhari Media has announced the winners of the sixth edition of the ‘DishHome-Baarakhari Story Competition 2081.’

This year, Bishnu Paduka’s story Magyud Khona won the first prize. Prameya Bhandari’s story Kritrim Sapana secured second place, while Vivek Dhimal’s Maile Dekheko Vidyalaya took third.

The results were announced during a special ceremony held in Kathmandu on Sunda. During the event, the anthology Bahakari Outstanding Stories 2081, featuring the top 25 stories, was also launched.

Attending the event as the chief guest, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, awarded trophies and certificates to the top three winners and recognized the top 25 authors.

The writes of those 25 best stories  include  Anita Panthi, Apsana Chaulagain, Chetanath Acharya, Jeet Bahadur Katuwal, Toyam, Dixit KC, Durga Dhenga, Devendra Khapung, Dhruva Adhikari, Prameya Bhandari, Bhagwat Khanal, Bhoomika Tharu, Madhur Bhattarai, Mahendra Mahak, Mirma, Ramesh Jung Thapa, Radhika Kalpit, Lalita Doshi, Bimala Tiwari, Vivek Dhimal, Bishnu Paduka, Sapna Adhikari, Sudip Chapagain, Harkabahadur Lamgade ‘Rohit,’ and Dr. Himalal Shrestha.

The anthology, published by FinePrint, has been edited by noted author Nayan Raj Pandey.

Two panels—internal and external—were formed for the story selection. The external panel was led by Prof. Dr. Gyanu Pandey, with Dr. Geeta Tripathi and writer Dhirendra Premarshi as members.

As in previous years, the competition saw participation from Nepali-speaking writers across Nepal and from countries including India (Mumbai, Assam, Darjeeling, Manipur, Guwahati), China, UAE, the US, Australia, South Korea, the UK, Japan, Canada, Qatar, Spain, and Finland.
