The winners of ‘ 5th Dish Home 12Khari Story Writing Competition 2080’ have been announced today during a literary event organized by 12 Khari Media at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbarmarg. While announcing the result of the story competition, 12Khari media declared story writer Manoj Babu Pantha as the winner of the story competition for his story titled Budo Lakuri Ko Rukh. Likewise, stories Kachuli by Pramod Pyakurel and Chepang Chamera Ra Cheuri by Bijay Hitan were declared the first and second runners-up respectively.
Manoj Babu Pantha, the winner, bagged a purse of 100000 rupees as the first prize while the two consecutive winners Pramod Pyakurel and Bijay Hitang were cash prized with 60000 and 40000 rupees respectively.
The prized were distributed by former chief justice of Nepal Kalyan Shrestha.
An internal jury formed under editor Govinda Adhikari had first selected 50 stories out of 843 stories it received from different story writers around the world. Following this, the judicial committee composed of prof. Dr. Sabitri Kashyapati, story writer Mohan Bikram Shahi and novelist Subin Bhattrai had shortlist 25 best stories before reaching the final round.
The event also launched an anthology titled ‘Best Story- 2080’ compiling all shortlisted 25 best stories. The writes of those 25 best stories include Anita Panthi, Uma Sharma, JN Dahal, Dilliraman Paudel, Tai Tai Dhital, Tribhuvan Chandra Wagle, Dinman Gurmchan, Dibya Giri, Dipak Lohani, Pramod Pyakurel, Manoj Babu Pantha, Mahesh Chaulagai, Robert Joshi, Rama Subedi, Ramesh Jung Thapa, Rajendra Adhikari, Rajesh Subedi, Bikram Nepal, Bijay Hitan, Basanta Bayung Rai, Shankhar Dhital, Dr. Shreedhar Khanal, Sanjaya Ghimire, Somnath Dahal and Heera Lama.
Besides the three winners, the remaining 22 shortlisted story writers were rewarded with a cash prize of 5000 rupees and a citation.
The event also honored the guest story writers for this year.
Dish Home Fiber Net was the title sponsored of the competition while Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Nepal Telecom, Rastriya Banijya Bank and Nepal Oil Corporation were the supportive sponsors of the competition.
12Khari Media had announced for its ‘5th Dish Home 12Khari Story Writing Competition’ on Bhadra 12. The story competition will be carried every year aiming to encourage the literary writers of Nepal.
