Darjeeling-based author Vasist ‘Vardan’ Giri released his debut novel, The Artist Who Stole His Own Paintings, on February 22, 2025. The book, a mix of murder mystery, thriller, and detective fiction, is set in Darjeeling and Dublin.
The story follows the murder of Peter, the director of Agatha’s Art Gallery in Dublin, and the disappearance of three paintings by Indian artist Karan Ved. Detective Bruce O’Sullivan believes KV is behind the crime, while Peter’s fiancée, Evanna, seeks revenge, suspecting Agatha’s involvement. As Agatha receives mysterious letters and paintings from KV, the mystery deepens with unexpected twists.
Giri, a poet and lyricist with a background in economics, is also exploring screenwriting. His novel is available on Amazon, Flipkart, and Notion Press.
