This year’s ‘Uttam Shanti Puraskar’ has been awarded to Roshan Sherchan for his essay collection ‘Galli Sansar’.
Established by the ‘Uttam Kunwar Memorial Award Trust,’ the award, which includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees, is given annually to the best non-fiction work in Nepali literature published in a given year.
This award was first presented in 2044 BS. Previous recipients of this award include Lainsingh Bangdel, Amber Gurung, Krishnachandra Singh Pradhan, Jagadish Ghimire, Manjul, Parshu Pradhan, Narayan Dhakal, Bhupin, Sharda Sharma, Illya Bhattarai, Durga Ghimire, Jhamak Ghimire, Pradeep Nepal, Krishna Dharabasi, Sree Om Shrestha ‘Rodan’, Rabindra Sameer, Devendra Bhattarai, Karna Shakya, Devichandra Shrestha, Nirmohi Vyas, Bhishma Upreti, and other writers.
