Buddhist scholar Phanindra Ratna Bajracharya’s books titled ‘Bajracharya’ and ‘Yen Dey Ya Mahabihar’ have been launched at a special event organised in Kathmandu on Saturday.
The books were jointly made public by the Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, Buddhist scholar Yagyamapati Bajracharya, Newa Dey Daboo Chairperson Pabitra Bajracharya, Bajracharya Club President Sarju Bajracharya, among others.
Diputty Mayor Dangol pointed out the need to preserve culture and pass it on to the new generation. She also added that the the new generation could be attracted towards cultural preservation by providing knowledge and information about culture.
Phanindra Ratna Bajracharya, the 95-year-old author of the books, said that his book ‘Bajracharya’ covers information on the Bajracharya caste, their practices, customs, beliefs and traditions. Likewise, ‘Yen Dey Ya Mahabihar’ includes information on the 18 Mahabihars of the Valley.
Born to father Baidhya Jyoti Ratna Bajracharya and mother Silu Kumari Bajracharya on March 10, 1922, Phanindra Ratna Bajracharya is renowned for his significant contribution to the field of cultural studies. He has authored a total of 16 religious books.
During the programme, Dikshya Gurus and Gurumas (spiritual initiators who give mantras for worship according to the rules and regulations of scripture) were honoured.
The book ‘Bajracharya,’ spanning 429 pages, is priced at 450 rupees, while ‘Yen Dey Ya Mahabihar,’ a 282-page book, is priced at Rs. 350.
