Triveni Sahitya Manch Organizes Grand Poetry Recitation in Harrisburg

Triveni Sahitya Manch held a grand poetry recitation program in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on July 23. The event took place at the Mom’s Momo and Deli Building and was attended by various poets, singers, and other literary enthusiasts.

The event was chaired by Keshav Bairagi Maila, president of Triveni Sahitya Manch, with social worker Tika Basnet as the chief guest and senior litterateur and musician Tunganath Upadhyay as the special guest.

The recitation event was inaugurated by the vice president of the Manch, Prem Ghimire, who presented poems in both English and Nepali.

Devi Dahal Dagane recited a poem in meter, proving that creativity can flourish without formal education. Similarly, young poet Parma Kancho Adhikari captivated everyone with his poem titled “Darhi” (Beard).

Agam Gurung, the proprietor of Mom’s Momo and Deli Building, entertained the audience by singing a song he had written, which is set to be released soon. Poet Abi Babu Adhikari presented his poignant poem about the vanishing traditional tools used by ancestors, such as the grinding stone, plough, sickle, and hammer.

Singer B.K. Neupane recited two songs in the form of poetry, and poet Madan Pokharel presented a beautiful poem lamenting the complaints of the motherland in the rhythm of “Muna Madan.” Basudha Rijal enchanted everyone with her lovely metrical poem, while advisory board member Bishnu Luintel shared his grievances through a poem reminiscing about Bhutan.

Speaking at the event, special guest Upadhyay recalled his youthful days and shared some of his creations with the participants. Chief guest Basnet recounted how he used to write abundantly when he was younger and now feels lifeless, but the creations shared by others brought him joy. He promised to bring his own creations to the next event.

Extending thanks to the participants, President of the Manch, Keshav Bairagi Maila, announced that Triveni Sahitya Manch will soon release a story collection titled “Din ko Ek Katha” (One Story a Day), which will include 365 stories. He also mentioned the various literary activities carried out by the Manch.

The event was hosted by the secretary of the Manch, Narad Acharya “Sudama,” and the vice president, Prem Ghimire.
