The Blue Indefinite

Jake Sheff

Well, what I saw this morning,
blue coyotes running free.
Yes, what I saw this morning,
blue coyotes running free,
and dawn exploding out both ends
because my baby done left me.

Love is a Manhattan, baby,
serve it on a dish.
Yeah, love is a Manhattan
Project, serve it on a dish.
Dishonesty’s her smoke, it’s sweet
as wine or Cavendish.

My woman’s got a body like
a bowl of Cézanne’s pears.
O, my woman has a body like
a bowl of Cézanne’s pears.
And when she’s lying naked
it’s the true state of affairs.

Ask and I will tell you, baby,
I’m your tiramisu.
Ask and I will tell you anything,
I sure miss you.
But you spread your love like chutney,
you love everybody but me
and it tears my dawn in two.
