Sushant Thapa and Nine Other Writers Win Yashaswi Book Awards 2023

Poet Sushant Thapa from Biratnagar-13 has been awarded with Yashaswi Book Awards 2079 (2023 AD). The award ceremony was held at Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur on 1 Sept, 2023 at the Kathmandu edition of Kaling Literary Festival. Sushant Thapa was awarded in the category of English writers for his full-length poetry collection Minutes of Merit published by Haoajan Publishers, Kolkata, India. Thapa is the only author picked for the award in the English poets’ category. Other writers chosen for the award for their books in other languages, including Nepali were Bibek Ojha for his novel Aithan, Dr. Nawaraj KC for his non-fiction Sunyako Mulya, Renuka Jisi for her story collection Sanesh, Dr. Mahendra Malla for his poetry book Bhashako Bakpatra, Govinda Giri Prenana for his biography of Parijat Sushri Parijat, Anuradha for her children’s book Chham Chhamko Chhamchhami, Rima KC for her  translation of Amrita Pritam’s poems, Narayan Ghimire’s Raithane Khanpan ra Chadparva under food and medicine category,  Lakpa Dendi Sherpa for his memoir Himalayan Maverick

Thapa, the winner of the award in English writers’ category, has been extensively published poet internationally and nationally writing mainly in English. He has published five full-length English poetry collections till date. The awarded poetry collection Minutes of Merit is his third poetry collection.

Sushant Thapa’s other publications include: The Poetic Burden and Other Poems (Authorspress, New Delhi, 2020), Abstraction and Other Poems (Impspired Press, UK, 2021), Love’s Cradle (World Inkers Printing and Publishing, New York, USA and Dakar, Senegal, Africa, 2023) and Spontaneity: A New Name of Rhyme (Ambar Publication House, New Delhi, 2023). Spontaneity is his recently published book released this month.

Sushant Thapa (b.1993) holds an M.A. in English literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India and is a faculty of Business English and Business Communication at Nepal Business College, Biratnagar, Nepal to students of BBA.
