Poet and essayist Shribabu Karki has been honored with the Rastriya Sahitya Samman 2082 during the 10th anniversary celebration of Ujyalo Bhavishya Sanstha, Dolakha.
The award was presented to Karki at a special event held at Anandabhumi Event Hall in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu. The ceremony was chaired by Rajan Basnet, President of Ujyalo Bhavishya Sanstha, Dolakha, with Nepal’s Minister for Health and Population, Hon. Pradeep Paudel, serving as the chief guest.
According to the citation, Karki has been making continuous contributions to modern Nepali poetry and essays since the 1990s through experimental and symbolic styles. His works have been highly praised for their artistic expression of human sensitivity, contemporary awareness, and life philosophy.
Alongside Karki, several other distinguished individuals originally from Dolakha district who have earned national and international recognition in various fields were also honored. Among them were world cyclist Pushkar Shah, journalist Rohit Bhandari, artist and social worker Maya Thami, social worker Binay Jung Basnet, local representatives Pema Bahadur Tamang and Ram Basnet, educationist Dhruva Bahadur Khadka, social workers Bharat Bahadur Pandey and Dilip Basnyat, and agricultural scientist Jagat Bahadur Shrestha.
Members of the National Assembly Hon. Ghanshyam Rijal, leaders Ajay Babu Shivakoti and Rudra Bahadur Khadka, among others, extended their best wishes during the program.
