Sharma’s Third Short-Story Collection ‘Ardhashatabdi’ Released

Story writer Manish Kumar Sharma Samit’s third short-story collection Ardhashatabdi has been unveiled amid a ceremony. The book was launched during an event organized by the Srijana Abhiyan Society to mark the author’s 50th birthday. The collection includes fifty contemporary-themed short stories.

During the program, critic Dhir Kumar Shrestha remarked on the diversity of themes in Samit’s stories, noting how they effectively capture unique aspects of life—sometimes explicitly and other times subtly. Similarly, another critic, Deepak Lohani, praised Samiti for presenting short stories succinctly while adhering to the essence of the genre.

The author stated that he has attempted to establish a distinct identity in the field by striving for uniqueness in title, theme selection, and presentation.

The ceremony, which began with a short-story recitation, also featured Lata KC, Chairperson of Laghu Katha Kendra, who extended her best wishes to the author. The author’s mentors, Narayan Phuyal and Mandira Chapagain, also shared their thoughts.

On behalf of the society, Samit was presented with a congratulatory letter, wishing for the publication of the book to become a meaningful celebration.

The event was presided over by the society’s secretary, Dhruba Madhikarmi.
