Seven Books Launched; Poets Honoured in Assam

A poetry festival was organized jointly by the Department of Language, Art and Culture of Cotton University and Indreni Publication on 22nd and 23rd of July in Assam state of India.

Around eighty poets from different states across India presented their poetry. The poems were rigorously discussed by some senior critics of the country.  Indreni Publication also took the event as an opportunityto announce the result a poetry competition it had organized earlier. HiranPaudel of Assam was declared first while N.B Gimire from Sikkim and Narayan Sharma Adhikarifrom Assam were declared second and third respectively. They were honoured with cash prizes 10,000, 8000 and 6000rupees accordingly.

A number of books were also lunched on the occasion. Rudra Baral and Krishnanil Karki’s jointly edited Assameli Nepali Samalochana: Khanada-2, Indrenika Rang (an anthology of poetry) by editors trio: Arjun Niraula, Nain Adhakari and JyotiHomagai, Naina Adhakari’s poetry collection Amrit Karagar, Tirtha Fuyal’s poetry collection Agni, Khadga Bahadur Kaushik’s story collection Bigyapan, story collection by Dr. Deven Sapkota (Suskera), and Bilok Sharma’s Bengali translation of Lil Babadur Chhetri’s Basain were released during the festival.

Poet Naina who had just been awarded with Sahitya Academy YuwaPuraskar, was also honored in the event.

Many distinguished personalities from the literary fraternity attended the event. Cotton University vice-chancellor, Padma Shree winner litterateur Lil Bahadur Chrettri, senior poets Naba Sapkota, Dilliram Khanal, Induprabha Devi, Dr. Khagen Sharma, Dr. Deven Sapkota, Nepal Poet Idol winner Nilam Gurung and many other writers were present in the event.
