Senior Litterateur Dadhiraj Subedi Passes Away

Senior literary figure Dadhiraj Subedi has passed away. Subedi, who had been battling with cancer for a long time,  breathed his last at 3 am on Wednesday morning at the age of 78.

Subedi has made significant contributions to Nepali literature by elevating Biratnagar as a hub of literary activity.

Subedi has authored more than a dozen original works. He has edited over a hundred books and written forwards for more than two hundred authors. His critical anthologies have been included in various university curricula.

President Ram Chandra Poudel has expressed grief over Subedi’s demise.

Suvedi’s mortal remains have been cremated at the Biratnagar-based Paropakar Ghat on Wednesday itself.

Born on July 19, 1847, in Bhojpur, Dingla, Dadhiraj Subedi was the Secretary of the Purbanchal Literature Foundation and the President of the Pratibha Puraskar Foundation, Biratnagar. Subedi, who had an MA degree in Nepali, was primarily active in literary criticism. His ‘Avirekhankan’, ‘Mritak Ka Katha’ and  ‘Kathashilpa, Pratibha ra Prastuti’ are among the acclaimed works on literary criticism.
