Senior Journalist Bhairav Risal Passes Away at 97

Senior journalist Bhairav Risal has passed away. He died at 7:45 PM on Saturday evening at Frontline Hospital in Baneshwor, where he was undergoing treatment, his younger brother Puru Risal confirmed.

Risal had pledged to donate his body for medical education. According to his daughter Sushma Risal, arrangements are being made to transport his body to the Patan Academy of Health Sciences.

The 97-year-old journalist had been active in journalism since the Panchayat era. He served for a long time at the national news agency, Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), and after retiring as the Chief Correspondent, he remained involved in environmental journalism and with Radio Sagarmatha.

Associated with Radio Sagarmatha since its inception, Risal regularly shared his views through the “Radio Kurakani” segment and hosted a program titled Uhiley Bajeyka Palama (In the Days of Our Ancestors).

Risal had publicly announced his decision to donate his body for medical study after his death. He was also actively involved in the “Jayatu Sanskritam” movement.
