The second edition of the Nepalgunj Conclave is set to take place on Mangsir 20 and 21 (December 5–6, 2024) in Nepalgunj. Organized by Creative Hands in collaboration with the Nepalgunj Chapter of the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum, this event will be held on the eve of the Dhaulagiri Nepalgunj Marathon.
According to the Director of Nepalgunj Conclave Janak Nepal, the conclave will feature discussions across eight different sessions. “The Conclave will address issues of local concern as well as contemporary topics of national significance,” said Director Nepal. “Last year, we had deep and meaningful discussions, and we were motivated by that success to add more sessions this time.”
The conclave will include a discussion on Nepalgunj’s energy crisis as one of the key local issues. Another session at the Nepalgunj Conclave will focus on the crises posed by climate change and strategies for adaptation. Additionally, there will be a session dedicated to reforms needed in our education system, specifically addressing the roles and initiatives local governments can take to improve education.
The Conclave will also address strategies for sustainable management of Nepal’s trade deficit to strengthen the economy. Another session will focus on tourism, specifically exploring the untapped potential of Western Nepal in the national tourism landscape.
The Nepalgunj Conclave will take place on the eve of the 10th Dhaulagiri Nepalgunj Marathon. Given this timing, there will be another significant session titled “Why Do People Run?” which will delve beyond marathons to discuss life and the world, careers and struggles, as well as creativity, success, and satisfaction.
“In literature, we will discuss contemporary Nepali fiction, exploring how well literature reflects society,” added Director Nepal. “This year, we have also added a political session, particularly to examine the growing sense of disenchantment among people. We will explore sources of hope and optimism by discussing political leaders’ plans to address this discontent. We believe that the discussions held at the Nepalgunj Conclave will foster public debate on issues of common concern, ultimately benefiting the community.”
The two-day Nepalgunj Conclave will begin with scholarly lectures and feature multilingual poetry recitations and mushaira (poetry symposiums). The topics and speakers for the conclave sessions will be announced soon. The 10th Dhaulagiri Nepalgunj Marathon has already been announced for Mangsir 22. Organizers anticipate that Nepalgunj will have a festive atmosphere from Mangsir 20 to 22 due to the Conclave and the Marathon.
