Sarubhakta to Receive Kshetra Pratap Memorial Literary Award

Kathmandu, March 29 – Writer Sarubhakta will be honored with this year’s Kshetra Pratap Memorial Literary Award, established in memory of poet Kshetra Pratap Adhikary.

Adhikary, widely known by his pseudonym Gaunbesi Ka Kabi, was born in Tanahun. The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, will be presented by Geetal Pratisthan Nepal and Natak Manch Tanahun at a ceremony at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, on April 12.

According to Akash Acharya, chairman of Natak Manch Tanahun, the award recognizes Sarubhakta’s significant contribution to Nepali literature. The event will take place on the occasion of poet Adhikary’s Memorial Day.

Other awards to be presented at the event include:

  • Sardar Yadunath Khanal Honor (Rs. 25,000) – Dr. Bhesh Bahadur Thapa

  • Nepal Adhirajya Ma Tanahun Wangmaya Puraskar (Rs. 25,000) – Dr. Satya Prakash Tiwari (Kolkata, India)

  • Geetal National Award (Rs. 10,000) – Om Rijal (Dailekh)

  • Geetal Talent Award (Rs. 5,000) – Narayan Kailash Sigdel (Bhimad Municipality)

The awards recognize outstanding contributions to Nepali literature and the arts.
