Sarubhakta Kendra has decided to award ‘Sarubhakta Rastiya Bal Puraskar 2080’ to child singer Suprim Malla. The selection committee, led by poet Saraswati Pratiksha, comprising five members, has approved Mall’s name for the honor.
Mall, an 11-year-old from Bajura’s Himali Rural Municipality-6, has been actively involved in the field of music, having sung around 190 songs till the date. His distinctive voice has recorded songs in various genres, including folk, film, modern, patriotic, children’s songs, along with Deuda, Thado Bhaka, Ghazal, Salaijo, Nepali Bhaka, Limbu, Eastern Bhaka, Kirati, and Madhesi Bhaka.
Sarubhakta, a literary figure, established the award in 2056 to honor and encourage children aged 16 and below who have excelled in various fields.
In the earlier years, a child talent from across the country was selected, receiving a cash prize of 15,000 rupees. Starting from this year, Sarubhakta has added ten lakhs fifty thousand rupees to the perpetual fund in memory of his late father Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha and mother Laxmi Maya Shrestha. Accordingly, this year’s honored child talent will receive a cash prize of 50,000 rupees along with a certificate.
Among the earlier recipients of the award are; Temba Tshiri Sherpa(2057), Jyoti Thapa (2058), Ritu Lama (2060), Shikha Katuwal(2061), Karuna Gurung (2062), Sipora Gurung (2064), Kushal KC2065, and Nima Chhyangdi Sherpa (2069). The Talent Award distribution had not been consistent since 2069. Giving continuity to the award, the center has announced that the award ceremony for Malla will take place on Magh 27.
