Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 to Yuddha Bir Rana

Assam-based writer Yuddha Bir Rana has been declared the recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award 2023. Rana, who has been promoting Nepali art, literature and culture through his literary works, was selected for the award for his significant book titled ‘ Nelpali Lok Sahitya Ra Lok Sanskriti Ko Parichaya’.

Rana has several books to his credits. His poem ‘Chiyan Napayeka Takmaharu’ was published in1982. Manab Yatra( 2003), Nepali Sanskrit: Hamro Astitwa (2006), and his latest award winning book ‘Nepali Lok Sahitya Ra Lok Sanskriti Ko Prachaya’ are among his publications. He has also given voice to many songs, one that include is Yo Deshko Matole Bhancha, composed by late poet Haribhakta Katuwal.

“Rana, who is four years younger than Hari Bhakta Katuwal, derived much of his literary inspiration from Katuwal” writes Rudra Baral, board of rector of Indreni Publication, ” We are overjoyed that Sahitya Akademi Award is going to be conferred upon such a talented litterateur.”
