Renowned Nepali writer Nar Bahadur Dahal passed away at 86

 

Renowned writer Nar Bahadur Dahal passed away on September 8, 2023 at 6 pm. Dahal was 86 years old.

Dahal, who was born in Kalimpong on 5 September 1937, was suffering from cancer for a few months.

Nar Bahadur Dahal, who spent the golden years of his life in the throes of letters had written Unmad (poetry collection), Bar-Pipal (story collection), Madhyaraat ko Tara (novel), Timro Preet Nai Mero Geet (poetry collection), Narendra Prasad Kumai (biography), Ganga Prasad Pradhan (biography) , Gorkha Mahanayak Dambarsingh Gurung (biography) and Love You Zindagi (story collection).

Apart from this, Sawari Mero Railaima (travelogue), Jhaljhali Akhama (Memoir) and Ek Muthi June (Poetry Collection) are about to be published.

He was honored with many awards and honors for his remarkable services to the development and promotion of Nepali literature.

Nar Bahadur Dahal’s memory was amazing. He used to tell the old stories fluently without forgetting anything.

Dahal, who became the editor of Gorkha at an early age, considered the ardent critic Ramakrishna Sharma as his mentor.

He was always ready to help the students of Nepali language and literature by providing them with rare books etc.

His death has caused an irreparable loss to Nepali literature. Shabd Samya Salbari expressed deep grief over the death of writer Dahal.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, a daughter and grandchildren.
