Readers Jhapa Announces Fifth Art and Literature Festival

Jhapa, November 30 — Readers Jhapa has announced that the fifth edition of its biennial Art and Literature Festival will take place from February 26 to 28, 2025 (Falgun 14, 15, and 16) in Kakarbhitta.

The festival, held every two years since 2069 (2012), was postponed in 2077 (2020) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the economic crisis that followed the pandemic posed challenges to organizing the event, explained Shailesh Dahal, Chairman of Readers Jhapa. “This time, we are working to present the festival in a new format,” he added.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, the festival will feature artistic and thought-provoking discussions on pressing contemporary issues. The main focus will be on ‘environmental discourse’, continuing a theme initiated at the beginning of 2081 (2024). The festival aims to engage various groups, including farmers, teachers, artists, writers, intellectuals, journalists, and students.

Readers Jhapa has consistently promoted the importance of intellectual discussions and art for strengthening democracy through its regular weekly programs. Further details about speakers, topics, and presentations will be announced soon at a press conference.
