Progressive Writers’ Association Protests Removal of Parijat and B.P. Koirala from TU Curriculum

The Progressive Writers’ Association, Nepal (PWA) has strongly opposed the removal of literary works by Parijat and B.P. Koirala from the curriculum of Tribhuvan University (TU).

Issuing a press statement signed by its president, Prof. Dr. Madhusudan Giri, PWA condemned the exclusion of these writers from the 2081 curriculum of the Nepali subject under TU’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The statement expressed concerns that suppressing, excluding, and eliminating the voices of progressive literary figures like Parijat undermines the aspirations of the Nepali people.

Expressing strong opposition to TU’s decision, the statement further urges the university’s Central Department of Nepali, Subject Committee, Academic Council, and administration to immediately revise the curriculum in alignment with Nepal’s socialist-oriented objectives.
