In recognition of his contribution to Nepali language and literature, Prof. Dr. Dayaram Shrestha has been honoured amidst a grand gathering of scholars in Kathmandu on Tuesday. Born in Dhankuta, Shrestha is a retired professor from Tribhuvan University. He has published dozens of timeless works and has dedicated 65 of his 82 years to teaching and researching Nepali language and literature.
The felicitation ceremony, chaired by Prof. Dr. Krishna Prasad Nyaupane, Head of the Central Department of Nepali at Tribhuvan University, was attended by Prof. Dr. Kapil Lamichhane and heads of the Nepali departments from various campuses, including Prof. Dr. Dharmaraj Adhikari, Bishnu Gyawali, Usha Adhikari, Dr. Phanindra Raj Niraula, Balakrishna Sharma, and Yadavaraj Upadhyaya. The attendees expressed their admiration for Prof. Shrestha’s unparalleled academic contributions. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Gyawali honored Prof. Shrestha through a beautiful poem.
The event saw the presence of over a hundred Nepali subject professionals.
Following the felicitation, Mr. Shrestha remarked that despite being 82 years old, he has not tired of the pursuit of knowledge and its dissemination, and he will continue to do so.
The program was organized by the Martyrs Memorial Foundation at Tribhuvan Park, Chandragiri.
