Prashrit and Mukhiya Honored with Rajendra Subedi Memorial Awards

Senior writer Modanath Prashrit and renowned artist Tekbir Mukhiya were honored with Rajendra Subedi Memorial Literature Award and Art Award respectively. In an event organised in Kathmandu on 8 August to mark the 87th birth anniversary of late writer and critic Prof. Subedi, the Rajendra Subedi Memorial Society awarded the veteran duo for their lifelong contribution to the field of writing and fine art. Chief Guest of the event Prof. Dr. Churamani Bandhu handed over the awards to the winners. The awards carry a sum of 22, 222 rupees each, besides citations.

Writer and literary journalist Dhir Kumar Shrestha shed light on the life and contribution of the awardees, whereas critic and poet Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Subedi presented a comprehensive paper on late Subedi’s contribution as a critic. Critic Prof. Dr. Laxman Prasad Gautam had commented on the paper. Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, and Member Secretary of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama Kushma Mahara shared their best wishes on the occasion. Students of Sweta Sadan Secondary School entertained the guests with their welcome dance. Writer Hari Silwal had delivered the welcome address in the opening of the event. The event was attended by several heavyweight writers, critics, researchers, art and literature patrons and students.
