Poet Somprasad Bhattarai’s ‘Atitdarpan’ Released

Poet Somprasad Bhattarai epic poem Atitdarpan has been officially launched in Sundarharaicha, Morang. The book was released during the Riders Ghazal Mehfil held at the auditorium of the Sundarharaicha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Renowned linguist and literary figure Pandit Purushottam Bhattarai was the chief guest at the event. Other notable attendees included former parliamentarian and writer Harkaman Tamang; linguists Mediniprasad Baral, Amritprasad Acharya, and Mohanprasad Kafle; poet and critic Deepakprasad Neupane; former head of Sukuna Multiple Campus Premprasad Bhattarai; and Chairperson of the Sundarharaicha Art and Literature Development Committee, Chhabi Bairagi Ghimire.

During the event, Riders Mehfil artists Rupak Banwasi (Kathmandu), Rashmi Asafal (Jhapa), Tika Khadka Rastrapremi (Morang), and Suman Regmi (Sunsari) performed ghazals. Each artist presented a total of six ghazals in three segments. According to the program coordinator Yadav Bhattarai, this was the seventh edition of the Riders Mehfil, which was established in 2020.

Poet and critic Tika Atreya delivered a review of the newly launched work, stating that the poem reflects the history of the geography where the poet was raised. He also praised Bhattarai’s ability to present thematic content in an artistic style.

The event saw the presence of various literary figures, including Bibash Balibhadra Koirala, Keshu Birahi, Tila Lekali, Dhanjit Parajuli, Shishir Bhattarai, Neeraj Koirala, Ramprasad Kharel, Navaraj Pokharel ‘Navshila’, Puran Yakkha, Binod Bibash Ghimire, Prince Pramod Dhakal, Deepa Mangrati, Durga Kharel, and Yadav Bhattarai, among others. Pandit Purushottam Bhattarai was also honored during the event.

The program was chaired by Chudamani Ghimire, advisor to the Sundarharaicha Riders Mehfil, and hosted by poet Bharat Guragain Barbarik.
