Poet and musician Pramod Sarang has been selected for Yuva Barsha Moti Puraskar 2023 awarded to young writers before 40 years of age every year. A press release issued by National Youth Service Fund, a government organization under the Ministry of Youth and Sports said poet Sarang had been picked for the award in critical appreciation of his contribution to the growth of Nepali language and literature in the national and international arena. The selection committee headed by linguist and writer Prof. Dr. Madhav Prasad Pokharel picked Mr. Sarang for the award that carries a cash prize of 40 thousand rupees, a gold medal and a citation.
The Moti award was established in 1985 and its first recipient was poet Daibagya Raj Neupane.
Sarang, who is engaged in poetry writing, music composition, translation and literary activism is the author of April Fool Banchihareko Desh (poetry collection), Aawaz ra Aawazharu (collection of muktaks), Anudit Aankhaharu (collection of haikus), Ajayatripti (collection of poems) and Asarfi (collection of haikus), while his works of translation include Korean ra Nepali Kaviharuka Kavita Concert, a joint anthology of Korean and Nepali poems. He also edited Anek Diaspora and Antardristhi. He is the central executive member of International Nepali Literary Society and is based in Seoul, South Korea.
