The poetry collection Judda Shamsherka Naam Ma… by poet Chaitanya Adhikari was released in Pokhara on Saturday. The book was unveiled by litterateurs Sarubhakta and Tirtha Shrestha.
Poet Chaitanya Adhikari has published his second poetry collection after a decade. His previous collection titled ‘Jhariko Kinar’ was well-received.
Following the book launch, Sarubhakta, former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, described Adhikari as an emerging and talented poet of contemporary Pokhara, noting, “His talent lies in expressing profound poetic insights with delicate vocabulary and heart-touching imagery, effortlessly conveying depth. Overall, Chaitanya’s poetic journey has begun in the philosophical duality of light and darkness, and this journey is progressing with his own distinctiveness.”
Litterateur Tirtha Shrestha emphasized the need to blend narrative and factual elements when writing poetry. He remarked, “Poetry must have harmony and balance. Poetry doesn’t adhere to any fixed form, and Chaitanya’s poems are also free from such constraints. Poetry is a universally beloved literary form, but it is not an easy craft. Writing poetry may seem easy, but it is actually a challenging endeavor. The effectiveness of poetry cannot be measured by any standard system. Chaitanya is a poet who can pick up even the smallest of narratives and present them beautifully in the form of poetry.”
Poet Chaitanya Adhikari expressed that he writes poetry to convey the experience of living and shared that he has recently begun to enjoy writing shorter poems.
Critic Sanjeev Poudel, in his review of the collection, noted that Chaitanya is a creator who uses his pen to address contemporary issues and inspires others to read poetry as a form of rebellion against societal norms.
Published by Shabda Media Pvt. Ltd., the parent organization of Sahityapost (e-daily), the book is priced at 350 rupees and includes 65 poems.
