‘Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar-2080’ to Gautam’s ‘Advait’; Chamling and Mathema to Receive Padmashree Samman

Khemlal-Harikala Lamichhane Foundation has decided to confer ‘Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar-2080’ upon Prof. Krishna Gautam’s novel ‘Advait’. The Foundation’s president, Jeeva Lamichhane, made the announcement through a press release, declaring that this year’s Padmashree Sahitya Puraskar will be awarded to the novel ‘Advait’.

‘Advait’ is recognized for its profound exploration of themes such as unity, empathy, and solidarity within human society. The novel is noted for its highly refined and accessible language style.

The Foundation reviewed 187 books published in the year 2080 B.S., eventually narrowing the selection down to 15 in the extended list and 5 in the final shortlist.

Author Gautam is a scholar of Eastern and Western philosophy and literature and an interpreter of postmodern theories. He has published over a dozen critical and fictional works.

In addition, the Foundation has decided to award the Padmashree Sadhana Samman to Pawan Kumar Chamling for his continuous contributions to the upliftment of the Nepali language, literature, and culture through creation, journalism, and literary activities. Chamling served as the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Sikkim for 24 years.

The press release states that the Padmashree Gaurav Puraskar will be awarded to Prof. Dr. Kedar Bhakta Mathema, former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, former Ambassador, and social activist, for his ongoing contributions to building an equitable society.

Each of these awards carries a cash prize of 300,000 rupees along with a certificate of honor.
