The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal has decided to nominate movie ‘Halakara’ for the 96th edition of the Academy Awards, mainly known as Oscar Awards, to be held in America next year. The movie is directed by Vikram Sapkota that features artists Mahesh Tripathi and Binita Thapa Magar as the lead roles.
While movies Dakini, Bulaki, Nirful and Bagaan had also applied for the Oscar nomination for 2024 edition. The selection committee decided to recommend Halkara for its artistic presentation of the story and the emotional analysis of the characters.
The Oscar Awards for 96th edition will be held on 10th of March, 2024 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA. The award is presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to the best international feature- length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue.
