Nepal-based literary organization Nepali Kalasahitya Dot Com Pratishthan and India-based Purvotter Hindi Sahitya Academy have made a deal for mutual cooperation on literary fronts. The presidents of the two organization, Momila Joshi and Rita Singh, singed the MoU in an event organized by the Academy at Gorkha Bhawan, Tezpur. According to the deal, Pratishthan will collect 50 representative Nepali poems written by poets from Nepal, which the Academy will translate into Hindi and publish in India. In the same vein, the Academy will collect 50 Hindi poems from North-East India which the Pratisthan will translate into Nepali and publish from Nepal. Understandably, the deal is the first of its kind between the two organisations. The MoU mentions that more of such deals will follow after the completion of the aforementioned project.
The MoU signing event was also accompanied by poetry recital in which visiting Nepali poets Momila Joshi, Dr. Hari Prasad Pokharel Manasagni, Rajeshwar Karki and Mahesh Paudyal addressed the gathering the read their creations. Several Indian poets writing in Nepali, Hindi and Assamese also read their poems. The event had graceful presence of Assam-based writers Mitradev Sharma, Kalpana Sharma Atreya, Dr. Goma Devi Sharma, Kamal Sedai, Anup Sharma, Jayant Acharya, Bishal KC and others. On the occasion, “Ishan Aalok”, a collection of tales and legends from North-Eastern States of India, collected by Dr. Goma Devi Sharma and Dr. Sitaram Adhikari was launched.
Earlier, the visiting Nepali team honored senior writer Padmashree Lil Bahadur Chhetri at his own home in Guwahati on 1 October. The 91-year old litterateur was honored with Kalasahitya Yatra Samman, 2024.
The visiting Nepali writers also attended a literary seminar and book launch organised by Indreni Publication, a premier publishing house in Assam. This event that took place on 2 October also featured Assam-based poets Rudra Baral, Dr. Deben Sapkota, Purushottam Upadhyaya Dahal, Dr. Daibaki Timsina, Anup Sharma and others. Critics Prof. Dr. Khagen Sharma, Gyan Bahadur Chhetri, Abikeshar Sharma, Momila Joshi, Dr. Goma Devi Sharma and Mahesh Paudyal threw light on several aspects of contemporary literature appearing in Nepali language. In the event, Laxman Pradhan´s “Ekaichhin Parkha ta Juneli”, Abikeshar Sharma´s “Pragativad: Kala ra Sahitya” and a critical compilation “Bharateli Nepali Pragativadi Sahitya” edited by Abikeshar Sharma, Rudra Baral and Bhakta Prasad Gautam were launched on the occasion.
