To mark its 20th anniversary, Publication Nepalaya is organizing a two-day book fair this weekend, offering up to 60 percent discounts on its publications. The fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Nepalaya’s office in Kalikasthan.
In addition to discounted books, the event will feature author meet-and-greet sessions and book signings. More than 30 writers published by Nepalaya are expected to participate, including prominent names such as Narayan Wagle, Ani Choying Drolma, Achyut Krishna Kharel, Aruna Uprety, Aabhas, Kali Prasad Rijal, Kumar Nagarkoti, and Shrawan Mukarung.
Nepalaya’s CEO Saijan Maskey shared that the event is a gesture of appreciation for the love readers have shown over the past two decades, starting with their first publication Palpasa Café. “We want to create a meaningful experience for readers by bringing books and authors together in one place,” Maskey said.
The fair will open with the launch of Kasto Chha Timilai, Yo Man Sodhirahanchha, the fifth book by Jeevan Kumar Prasai. A decade ago, Prasai’s Jeevan Jiune Kaida, also published by Nepalaya, became a bestseller and has since gone through nine reprints. His new book explores the theme of emotional intelligence. “We live in the age of AI, but my focus is on EI—Emotional Intelligence,” said Prasai.
The fair will conclude with a poetry recital featuring 15 poets, including those from Nepalaya’s E-Kabita online poetry series and other published poets. Poet Shrawan Mukarung mentioned that the recital aims to celebrate poetry and connect poets with readers.
Nepalaya expressed hopes that the fair will inspire greater interaction among writers, readers, and literary critics. If successful, the publication house plans to organize similar events in the future.
