The 11th edition of the Nepal Literature Festival is scheduled to take place in Pokhara from February 15 to 19.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Organizer Bookworm Foundation announced that they have planned to host more than a dozen foreign guests and over 200 speakers for the festival.
Keshavsharan Lamichhane, a member of the organizing committee, informed that more than 55 sessions and musical evening programs have been scheduled for the festival.
The first day of the festival will observe book launche of ‘Batsyayana and His Barbs Volume II’, as well as a cartoon exhibition. The event will also feature the display of ‘Gorkha Woman, Visual Arts Exhibition’ and poetry recitation by poet Kumar Nagarkoti toether with Kutumba band.
This year’s festival will also see the participation of Kai Bird, co-author of the world-famous book ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.’ He is also a Pulitzer Prize winner. The blockbuster film based on his book is scheduled for release in 2023.
Famous Indian writer Janice Pariat will also be attending the festival. She will be discussing her book ‘Everything the Light Touches’ at the festival. Her book had won the ‘Sushila Devi Award’ for outstanding fiction in 2023. Similarly, Renowned critic and novelist Chandrahas Chaudhary will also be attending the festival. He has written books like ‘Clouds’ and ‘Arjee the Dwarf’, which was shortlisted for the ‘Commonwealth Fast Book Prize.’
This year’s festival will feature an expert lecture by former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha on ‘Constitution and Governance.’ Journalist Vijay Kumar, Member of Parliament and economist Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Sudhan Kiran Kiran, Member of Parliament Sumana Shrestha, former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, former Finance Ministers Barsha Man Pun and Surendra Pandey will also be present in the festival.
Musical performances by Kutumba Band, Dr. Dhruvachandra Regmi and his group, Dr. Suman Thapa and The Blue Freight Band, Vipul Kshetri and his Traveling Band, among others, will be part of the festival’s concerts.
