Nepal Academy and NeSChiL to Host International Children’s Literature Conference

Kathmandu, 19 February

Nepal Academy and Nepalese Children’s Literature Society (NeSChiL) have decided to jointly organise an international conference on children’s literature from 20 to 22 September 2024 in Kathmandu. For the purpose, a Steering Committee has been formed under the coordination of Nepal Academy Vice-Chancellor Bimalkrishna Shrestha. Bijay Raj Acharya, General Secretary of the Nepalese Society of Children’s Literature will be its Member-Secretary.

NeSChiL President Pramod Pradhan, Nepal Academy’s Member-Secretary Dr. Dhan Prasad Subedi, senior artist and former Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts KK Karmacharya, Library Expert Bhola Shrestha, Nepal Academy’s Academic Council Member Trailokyaman Banepali, Children’s Writer Anuradha, Writer Anant Wagle, Writer and Critic Mahesh Paudyal and representative of Nepal Academy Rajkumar Shrestha have been nominated members of the Steering Committee.

Member-Secretary Acharya has informed the press that 25 international representatives from South Asian and other countries and 100 representatives from Nepal will participate in the conference.  They will include writers, editors, illustrators, librarians, translators, researchers, educators, publishers and children. He informed that the conference will include presentation of seminar papers on various topics, panel discussions, children’s book exhibition, art exhibition, author-children interaction and drama performance.
