Natikaji Puraskar Announced, Songs Entertained at Pashupathi

Natikaji Memorial Society  has announced different honours and awards for the artists  who have made significant contributions to the field of Nepali songs and music.

The awards and honours were announced on the occasion of 99th birth anniversary of late singer  Amrit lLal Shrestha, popularly known as Natikaji, during a function held in the capital on Tuesday.

President of Natikaji Memorial Society Sambhujit Baskota said that the contributions of Natikaji, the pinnacle personality of Nepali song and music, would be always remembered by the Nepali generation.

According to Deepak Shrestha, vice-president of Natikaji Memorial Society, the ‘Natikaji Rastriya Bishishtha Sangeet Samman-2080’ will be awarded to Anand Adhikari, Keshav Sunam, Bhushan Kharel, Sunil Thapa, Dharma Munikar, Sudesh Sharma, Kumar Singh, Subarna Limbu, Ram Bhattarai and Basant Bityasi Thapa.

Similarly, Bijay Siwakoti, Shishir Yogi, Banika Pradhan, and Rajanraj Siwakoti will be felicitated with ‘Natikaji Rastriya Sangeet Samman’.

Likewise,  artists Sanjay Tumrok, Rachana Rimal, Shashi Bikram Thapa, and Prakash Mishra will be conferred on the ‘Natikaji Rastriya Pratibha Puraskar’ while Amrit Khati will be honoured with ‘Natikaji Rastriya Lok Sangeet Samman’.

Journalists Shantipriya and Krishna Bhattarai will be honoured with   ‘Natikaji Rastriya Kala Patrakarita Pursakar’.

Also while marking the birth anniversary of the late singer, the Society also conducted a musical evening  at Pashupantinath Temple where a collection of religious songs by Natikaji were played. More than a dozen of  songs were entertained just before the evening ceremony, a prayer held every evening.

Natikaji, who was born in Pulchok Lalitpur on December 25, 1925, gave voice and music to Nepali national songs, folk songs, modern songs, hymns, song dramas, dramas, and movie songs. He passed away on November 2, 2003.
