This year’s ‘Dandapani-Nanda Kumari Arjyal Memorial National Award’ will be presented to noted human rights activist Mohana Ansari.
The decision was made during an executive committee meeting of the Dandapani Arjyal Memorial Centre, chaired by Ishwor Chandra Baniya, on February 23. According to the Centre’s General Secretary, Kapilchandra Khanal, the award will be presented at a ceremony on March 1. The honor includes a cash prize of 50,000 rupees.
The award was established in memory of education activist, historian, and philanthropist Dandapani Arjyal and his spouse, Nanda Kumari. Born in 1963 BS in Gorkha, Dandapani Arjyal was a significant figure in Nepal’s academic and historical landscape.
The award recognizes individuals for their national contributions. Past recipients include historian Gyanmani Nepal, litterateur Madanmani Dikshit, culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi, historians Tulasi Ram Baidhya and Dinesh Raj Panta, litterateur Dr. Modnath Pashrit, educationist Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, and political analyst Prof. Dr. Surendra KC.
