Mandala Theatre is all set to stage Damini Bhir, the theatrical rendering of Rajan Mukarung’s Madan Puraskar winning novel of the same title. The play is being performed in collaboration with Thaili Entertainment. Directed and conceptualized by Egihopo Koicha Sunuwar, the play is the fifth one based on Mukarung’s works. Earlier, his plays like Gumriyeko Kapal, Jokhana, Hechhakuppa and Khuwalung had been performed with a huge public acclaim.
The play makes an objective representation of Nepali society particularly of one during the insurgency period and the psychological portrayal of people beset by the armed struggle. Nepali culture, its social structure and civilization appear as the major subjects of the play and radical ideas against social evils and mal-practices are emphasized. The issue of ethnic identity is also forcefully presented in the play.
The play also sketches a pessimistic life resulting from political tension and faltering movement of the state while ideas of equitable inclusiveness are enforced.
Artists Kiran Chamling, Punam Thapa, Sita Rai, Riyar Rai, Sujata Gurung, Suju Suwar Kirati, Pratina Rai, Mani Kulung Rai, Sonam Lama, Kabi Rai, Shayok Mukarung are in different characters of the play.
The play will be performed till 13th of Ashoj at Mandala Theatre.
