Madan Puraskar Guthi Unveils the Award Winners for 2079

The recipients of prestigious Madan Puraskar and Jagadamba Shree award for the year 2079  has been unveiled on Sunday through a press release issued by Madan Puraskar Guthi.

As per the notice, Madan Puraskar for 2079 will be bestowed upon Bibek Ojha for his novel titled Aaithan. Likewise, the Guthi has also decided to confer Jagadamba Shree award 2079 on  accomplished painter Tekbir Mukhya. The award decisions were taken during a general meeting held by Guthi on Sunday.

Award winning novel  Aaithan by Bibek Ojha  familiarizes the new generation with the two decade-long Maoist insurgency and its profound impact on Nepali society.

Both the awards will be officially conferred on the auspicious occasion of Kojagrat Purnima.

Before finalizing the winner, Madan Puraskar Guthi had announced the shortlist of five books for the Madan Puraskar 2079. Those shortlisted for the award were  Ejoriya by Subin Bhattrai, Aaithan by Bibek Ojha, Chakrabyuhma Nepalko Jalasrot by Dwarika Nath Dhungel, Thangra by Pragati Rai and Matako Ghar by Sanjaya Bista.

Established in 1955, Madan Puraskar is considered the most prestigious literary award in Nepal, conferred annually to one book published in Nepali language which is regarded to be the best in the given year. The winner of Madan Puraskar receives four lakh rupees and a citation.
