What’s in ‘Mukam Ranmaidan’?
Mukam Ranmaidan is a book that compiles historical documents related to the Nepal-Anglo War. The book contains narratives of letters written by Nepali and British soldiers and commanders during the Nepal-Anglo War of 1871-72 (B.S.).
Author and journalist Mohan Mainali has documented the fierce battle that took place 209 years ago between Nepal and Britain in this work. For this, he relied on the accounts of people who fought, experienced, or witnessed the war.
In the process of gathering information for this work, Mainali uncovered letters written by soldiers and commanders from both sides during the war. While some of these letters had been previously published in various forms, they were now almost inaccessible. Most of the materials had been published before, while some had not even been made public.
