The Shrasta Chait-30 campaign has honoured litterateurs Gyanuwakar Poudel and Laxmi Mali in recognition to their contribution to Nepali literature and democratic movements.
At a programme organised here Friday, former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, Bairagi Kainla, honoured the literati.
On the occasion, Kainla underlined that political leaders should internalize the spirit of people’s movement, while litterateurs should be always ready to play constructive role remaining in opposition.
Similarly, Member-Secretary at Nepal Academy Dr Dhan Prasad Subedi mentioned that the Academy was operated as per the sentiments of litterateurs so that change would be institutionalized.
Shrasta Chait-30 is remembered as the day when the literati gathered at Aarohan (Gurukul) Natyaghar on Chait 30, 2062- during the second people movement and recited poem breaking curfew at Baneshwor Chowk and expressing solidarity to the people’s movement. (RSS)
