Siliguri, 13 Dec
The novel “Teesta–Rangeet,” authored by Sikkim-based writer Kuberchandra Dahal, was launched in Siliguri on 13 December 2025. The launch ceremony was jointly organised by the Launch Ceremony Organising Committee and the publisher of the work, Book-Ant Publication House.
The programme was held at the Book-Ant–run Book Café, located in the Bhanu Bhakta Samiti Bhawan, Siliguri. The event was presided over by Lakshmikant Sharma, former Professor of the University of North Bengal, while the Chief Guest was Devibhakta Shrestha, President and Patron of Sahitya Chautari Cultural Institution, Birtamod.
The formal release of the book “Teesta–Rangeet” was jointly carried out by Lakshmikant Sharma, Devibhakta Shrestha, Professor Dr Mohan P. Dahal, and the author Kuberchandra Dahal. A scholarly and insightful review of the work was presented by renowned singer, theatre practitioner, and litterateur Jagdish Sharma.
The Author Interaction Session was conducted by senior journalist and intellectual Ashok Prashant. Speaking during the session, author Kuberchandra Dahal said, “I had undertaken a solo initiative to translate the Indian Constitution into Nepali in the interest of Nepali communities across India. The success of this translated work is evident from the publication of its third edition.” He further added, “I wrote Teesta–Rangeet with the aim of creating a creative document of the linguistic and cultural relationship between Sikkim and Darjeeling.” He also stated, “Having closely observed and understood the sufferings, identity crisis, and displacement faced by Indian Nepalis, I have attempted to make these issues the central themes of my novel.”
During the programme, Lakshmikant Sharma and Jeevan Adhikari were felicitated. Popular Nepal-based poet Leela Anmol recited her poems.
The event also featured an audio-visual presentation introducing the author. Uttam Adhikari and Junu Gautam presented an invocation song. The welcome address and publisher’s statement were delivered by Raja Puniani, Director of Book-Ant Publication House, while the programme was anchored by Yuvraj Sundas.
Distinguished attendees included, from Nepal: Himmat Nembang, Devicharan Bhandari, Tulsi Niroula, Aniruddha Oli, and Urmila Bimali Shrestha; and from India: Professor Dr Mohan P. Dahal, senior musician Jeevan Adhikari, senior theatre artist Tank Sharma, Professor Dr Rajkumar Chhetri, playwright Mukti Upadhyay, Shankar Adhikari from the Dooars, Kapilmani Adhikari from Sikkim, Colonel P. K. Sharma (Retd.), writer Gyanendra Dahal, Goldy Singh Khalsa, Babita Maden, Sachin/Krishna Lama from Bhanu Bhakta Samiti, and film director Vinod Bisht, among others.
