The English version of author Ram Prasad Koirala’s memoir “Meri Uni Ra Ma” titled “Colossal Love: My Life’s Journey,” was unveiled during an event held at Alice Conference Hall in Pulchowk.
The book was jointly launched by the retired Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and former Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, Kul Chandra Gautam, along with educationist and litterateur Shastradatta Pant, Thakur Prasad Koirala, Achyut Prasad Dhital, and author Ram Prasad Koirala.
In the memoir, Koirala expresses his love, respect, and devotion towards his grandmother and mother.
The book launch ceremony was attended by both Nepali and international intellectuals.
Reflecting upon the book, Kul Chandra Gautam said, “I have read it repeatedly, both in Nepali and English. The discrimination faced by society back then, the law’s failure to deliver justice, and Ram’s mother ultimately having to live in exile in India made me cry many times while reading the book.”
Similarly, Madan Puraskar winner Mahesh Bikram Shah stated that Koirala’s memoir is intertwined with pain and suffering. “The book could be a good novel or fiction. It deeply moves the reader’s emotions. He has directly presented his grandmother’s anguish,” added Shah.
Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, Dr. Saroj Dhital, writer Kamal Dhakal, and poet Durga Banjade also spoke about the book and author Koirala during the program.
Having served in various executive positions at UNICEF for thirty years, author Koirala is now actively engaged in writing.
The book has been published by Ghost Writing Nepal.
