‘Kavidanda National Fiction Award 2080’ Announced for Gautam’s ‘Adwait’

Kavidanda Sahitya Samaj, Chitwan, has decided to award the ‘Kavidanda National Fiction Award- 2080’ to Krishna Gautam’s novel Adwait. The award is given annually to one of the Nepali fiction works published in a given year.

The jury’s decision highlights that Adwait addresses today’s fragmented society and emphasizes the fundamental unity of humanity despite diverse beliefs and faiths. The novel advocates for equality, empathy, and unity, presented in a refined and accessible manner, and identifies Advaita philosophy as a bridge to unite a divided world.

The award includes a cash prize of 125,000 rupees (One hundred twenty-five thousand rupees) and a certificate of appreciation. The award ceremony will be organized on an appropriate date and venue after Tihar 2081.

Kavidanda Sahitya Samaj initially released a longlist of the top 10 works and later a shortlist of the top 5 works. Other shortlisted works included Sanu Sharma’s short story collection Arko Deshma, Bishwo Kuinkel’s novel Gopicha, Govinda Prasad Kusum’s novel Bhrikuti, and Roshan Thapa ‘Nirav’s novel Santraska Sathi Din.
