Legendary sculptor Kalu Kumale, renowned as ‘Krodh Kala Shiromani,’ has been awarded with honorary membership by the Lok Sahitya Parishad during a ceremony held at the Krodh Shiroman Foundation in Lalitpur.
Dr. Rajan Lal Joshi, Head of the Central Department of Nepal Bhasa, along with Parishad’s President Rajit Bahadur Shrestha and Vice President Laxmi Shobha Shakya, conferred the prestigious membership upon the esteemed artist Kumale.
Expressing their admiration for Kumale’s artistry, Joshi and Shrestha revealed plans to collaborate on crafting an epic poem on Kumale’s life for potential publication.
Despite facing financial hurdles, Kumale’s passion for sculpting led him to create masterpieces from various materials, earning recognition both nationally and internationally. His artwork adorns not only temples and monasteries but also shrines and museums.
Kumale’s life is marked by personal tragedies, including the loss of his first wife and several children. Despite enduring profound sorrow, he found solace in his craft, dedicating his art to the memory of his loved ones.
