Nepali Kala Sahitya Dot Com Foundation has announced the recipients of the National Kalashree Honors and Awards for the year 2081. The names of the honorees and awardees were decided by a meeting held on Thursday in Kathmandu under the chairmanship of Foundation’s president, poet, and essayist Momila Joshi.
Senior cultural expert and educationist Prof. Dr. Veena Paudyal has been chosen for the prestigious Amulya National Kalashree Samman while the National Kalashree Puraskar will be presented to poet and literary activist Bishwobimohan Shrestha.
Similarly, the Sa-Siddhi National Kalashree Youth Award will be given to poet and translator Chandra Gurung, the Badri National Kalashree Journalism Award to journalist and novelist Basanta Basnet, the Thirchhaya National Kalashree Fine Arts Award to experimental painter Sunil Sigdel, and the Padmanetra National Kalashree Music Award to folk singer Kamalikant Bhetwal.
According to the Foundation, National Kalashree Honor holds immense prestige. The National Kalashree Award carries a cash prize of NPR 100,000 and a copper plaque, the Sa-Siddhi National Kalashree Youth Award includes NPR 75,000, the Thirchhaya Kalashree Fine Arts Award comes with NPR 60,000, and the other awards each carry a cash prize of NPR 50,000 along with a copper plaque.
Foundation President Momila Joshi stated that the award ceremony will be held in Kathmandu towards the end of the month of Magh. The Foundation has been consistently presenting the Kalashree Honors and Awards for the past 16 years.
