Kalasahitya Pratisthan Announced Awards for Vaidya and Gurung

Nepal Kalasahitya Dot Com Pratishthan has announced the winners of two special awards presented annually.  The  Prathisthan has decided to present this year’s  Yogeshwar Bangmaya Puraskar to Illam-based poet Bimal Vaidya for his special contributions to Nepali literature and social work.  Similarly, the Prathisthan has also decided to award the Gregory Kala-Sanskriti Puraskar 2080 to Taplejung-based artist Bharat Kumar Gurung.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by vice-president Rajeshwar Karki.

The Yogeshwar Bangmaya Puraskar was established in the name of litterateur Yogeshwar Karki and carries a purse of 25,000 rupees, while the Gregory Kala-Sanskriti Puraskar, established in the name of Professor Dr. Gregory J. Mascarenhas, carries a purse of 20,000 rupees.

Both the awards, established with the aim of inspiring artists from outside Kathmandu, will be presented during a special literary festival to be held on March 9 in Taplejung. This was announced by the president of Prathisthan, poet and essayist Momila Joshi through a press release.

Previously, the Yogeshwar Literature Award has been awarded to Dr. Krishna Raj DC, Amar Giri, Krishnabhushan Bal, Usha Sherchan, Vanamali Nirakar, Mukund Prayas, Dilip Shah, Krishna Raj Oli, Padmaraj Joshi, Purichandra Devkota, Dr. Madhusudan Giri, DB Tuhuro, and Pushkaraj Regmi. Similarly, the Gregory Cultural Award has been previously awarded to Sher Bahadur Adhikari, Purna Samir Mahatara, Khadananda Chaulagai, Manohar Lamichhane, Nabin Bibhas, and Rajendra Gopal Singh.
