Journalist Rimal Comes Up with Poetry Collection ‘Chamero’

Poet and journalist Shyam Rimal has come up with a new anthology of poems titled ‘Chamero: Pandemic Poems’. The book was launched  during a literary event commemorating the 107th birth anniversary of progressive poet Gopal Prasad Rimal in the capital on Friday. The collection features 29 poems that capture the experiences and struggles of people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the event, poet Deependra Adhikari praised Rimal’s poems for their clarity and message, despite lacking traditional imagery and meter. Rabi Rimal, General Secretary of the Rimal Society, noted the significance of Rimal’s work at a time when Nepali language and literature are experiencing a decline.

Shyam Rimal’s previous works include three other anthologies: ‘Trishuliko Kinarabata’, ‘Barpak’, and ‘Nadi Bagdaina’, as well as a collection of lyrics titled ‘Kanda Bijhda’.

The event also featured poetry recitations by numerous literary figures and enthusiasts, including Tirtha Bhattarai, Pramod Snehi, Gopal Kumar Mainali, Amar Akash, Krishna Mohana Joshi, Tekendra Thapa, Lal Bahadur Bhujel, Ram Mani Situala, Krishna Bause, Ilame Jetho, and Dharti Chandra Yatri.
