Author and journalist Sushil Darnal’s new book titled Maya Pani Bitulo has been launched. The book was launched by speaker Devraj Ghimire at a program held in Kathmandu on Friday.
In Maya Pani Bitulo, Darnal delves into the history and origins of the Dalit community, shedding light on their ancestral occupations and the persistent caste-based discrimination they endure. The book also addresses the economic and political challenges faced by the Dalit community, as well as the complexities of inter-caste marriages and love relationships.
The book also provides insights into the Gandharva community’s status within the Dalit population and examines the Caste Discrimination and Untouchability (Crime and Punishment) Act, 2068, along with its implementation.
In addition, Maya Pani Bitulo explores reservation policies for Dalits, shares stories of love thwarted by caste and ethnicity, and discusses the challenges faced by Dalit women across SAARC countries. It also highlights the struggles of women petitioners, the achievements of Dalit women in Nepal, and their representation in Parliament and civil service.
The book addresses inclusive policies aimed at abolishing caste-based discrimination and discusses the impact of youth conferences and interactions with Dalit MPs advocating for Dalit rights.
This is Darnal’s second book, following his previous research work, Representation and Themes of the Dalit Community in National News Agency.
