Journalist and story writer Basantaraj Parajuli is set to release his debut novel Bakhan by the end of Shrawan. The novel’s cover was recently unveiled by Shikha Books. Writer Parajuli known for his short story collections like Kumata and Momcho
The novel portrays the struggle of Bakhan Singh Gurung against state oppression highlighting his role in founding a cooperative in 2013 BS, and the personal losses during political turmoil. It also explores themes like the Gurung community’s traditions, social change, and historical events in Chitwan.
Currently the Chitwan correspondent for Gorkhapatra Daily and president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Chitwan, Parajuli’s novel marks his transition from journalism to creative writing.
