Indra Chaudhary Honored with ‘NeSChiL  Children’s Book Writing Award’

Children’s literature writer Indra Chaudhary has been honored with the ‘Nepalese Children’s Literature Society (NeSChiL) Children’s Book Writing Award.’

The award was presented to Chaudhary during the Second Children’s Book Exhibition and Children’s Story Writing Competition held at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi. Chancellor of the Academy Bhupal Rai, Member Secretary Dhan Prasad Subedi, and President of the Nepal Children’s Literature Society Pramod Pradhan jointly conferred the award.

Chaudhary received the award for his children’s picture book Naya Banpale (his first published book and second written story), published by Room to Read in 2079 BS, which was recognized as the best children’s book in the under-eight age group for 2079 BS.

For the past five years, Chaudhary has been engaged in translating and writing children’s literature. He has published four children’s picture storybooks so far and has translated dozens of children’s stories from English to Nepali and from English and Nepali to Tharu and Rana Tharu languages.

Alongside Chaudhary, Sirjana Rai received the 2079 BS award for the above-eight age group in writing. Similarly, poet Mitralal Pangeni won the 2078 BS award for the under-eight age group, while Hari Khanal received the 2078 BS award for the above-eight age group. In the illustration category, Kalagraj B was honored for 2078 BS, and Krisha Tamrakar for 2079 BS.
