The Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) has launched the ‘Inclusive Art Exhibition’ in Kathmandu to mark the 33rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The four-day event, inaugurated on Tuesday by Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, showcases over 60 artworks by 51 artists.
Minister Sah emphasized the significance of such exhibitions in preserving and transferring knowledge, traditions, and craftsmanship to future generations. He noted, “These exhibitions promote art tourism, self-reliance, and economic contributions through art while fostering inclusivity.” Highlighting the event’s alignment with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, he added, “It celebrates the creativity of individuals with diverse abilities, fosters collaboration and solidarity, and encourages social responsibility.”
NAFA Chancellor Narad Mani Hartamchhali described the exhibition as a campaign for social transformation, underscoring art’s universal role in connecting various sectors of society as a form of humanity.
During the inaugural ceremony, Chogyal Rinpoche (Karma Punchok Lama) received a certificate of appreciation. He reflected on art’s dual role as therapy and creation.
The exhibition features contributions from renowned artists, including Narad Mani Hartamchhali, KK Karmacharya, Kiran Manandhar, and Palsangmo Lama, among others. The artworks are displayed at the Araniko Gallery in NAFA and will remain open to visitors until December 20.
